2. Apple Cider Vinegar
Apple cider vinegar has been getting a lot of good press these days. ACV is made from fermented apple juice, where the added yeast turns the fruit sugar into alcohol, and the bacteria turns the alcohol into acetic acid. It is this acidic acid that gives ACV its astringent properties that is the most beneficial for acne-laden skin because it helps to restore the pH balance in the skin and pores, reducing the excess oiliness that clogs the pores in the first place.
ACV has also been found to kill harmful bacteria. And while more studies need to be made on cystic acne itself, the properties within ACV show promise, and have even had testimonials to back up claims.
Keep in mind, however, that the acidic properties in ACV could irritate the skin, so it is best to try a small patch to see how your skin will react, and make sure to rinse skin thoroughly 15 minutes after application.
